In Fall 2019, Cryptoeconomic Systems opened the doors of the MIT Media Lab to blockchain academics, experts, and enthusiasts from around the world. This two-day summit was designed to foster a fruitful exchange of ideas in preparation for the launch of Cryptoeconomic Systems, a new open access journal published by The MIT Press.
One important goal of these highly-collaborative journal and conference activities was to complement the technical areas of cryptography, protocol engineering, and distributed systems with insights from the domains of economics, law, complex systems, and philosophy. Ultimately, we hope that Cryptoeconomic Systems is the first step towards crystallizing a mature and communal scholarly ecosystem.
Thanks so much to those who attended and participated in the inaugural Cryptoeconomic Systems event. We truly appreciate you taking the time, and in many cases traveling great distances, to be with us.
Our ~225 attendees hailed from every corner of the globe, making it an intercontinental as well as interdisciplinary gathering. We hope to see you all back in Cambridge soon!
